On 14th December, 2018, a Safety Preparedness & Emergency Response Training seminar was organized by ‘Philanthrope’ in the Northern Campus of Delhi University. More than 100 students participated in the seminar and took advantage of the lecture and demonstration of safety equipment by Philanthrope Director, Dr. Angeli Qwatra, which could potentially help them become efficient emergency responders in a crisis situation. Dr. Qwatra was very specific about discussing the benefits of disaster management training which, according to her, includes more effective loss avoidance regulations and strategies, improved understanding of emergency processes, more effective hazard mitigation strategies, and improved emergency response and recovery.
More than 550 students benefited from a Disaster Management & Emergency Response Training seminar organized during the Rotaract District 3011- RYLA 2018 event at the O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana. The seminar was conducted by Philanthrope Director, Dr. Angeli Qwatra, who shared invaluable insights and training on how to become efficient emergency responders in an emergency. The students were made aware of the various types of disasters, like, natura or man-made and also trained on the subject of creating and executing an emergency plan, emergency evacuation mapping, disaster response, CPR and other medical first aid techniques that could help them save lives in face of a disaster till professional help arrives.
A Press Briefing Session for the initiation of Disaster Preparedness & Emergency Management Training of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Staff with Mr. Manoj Kumar, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, DTC, under the leadership of Dr. Angeli Qwatra, Director, Philanthrope, was held in September, 2018 at the DTC headquarters. It's an ongoing training program under which 25,000 DTC staff are receiving training on disaster preparedness & crisis management to reduce vulnerability & enhance passenger safety. Dr. Angeli Qwatra delivered an insightful talk on the subject of safety preparedness and disaster management to the members of the Rotary Club, Delhi Midwest at the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, on 14th November 2018. Mr. P S Dhingra, President of the club, graced the occasion and commended Dr. Qwatra on her vision of creating a “disaster ready and resilient society”. At the session, Dr. Qwatra shared her insights on managing disasters and emergencies ranging from daily life risks and emergencies to developing faster response mechanisms during earthquakes, floods, cyclones, lightning strikes, and other natural disasters. The training sessions aim to increase the readiness and knowledge of safety preparedness among citizens by focusing on improving technical skills for disaster relief, as well as building competencies like AR and CPR of the first respondents.
